1st Term

ICE HOUSE - Hafnarfjörður.

The first week of the NAIP I participated in an intensive course where i formulated a group of four people, three musicians and a visual artist and we made a short documentary about the old Freezer house in Hafnarfjörður which holds various art workshops. The film featured a poem I wrote inspired by the idea to seek opportunities and follow ones dreams. Then the film was followed by the performance of a sailor song I wrote based around the same idea, which I developed further in composition classes.

GRÓF

I composed the pop song Gróf during the first term and experimented with recording at home in the living room with a Shure SM58 mic. I recorded piano chords with the mic placed inside the piano and an acoustic guitar as well. Then I mixed the song in Ableton Live 9 recording program and used various effects freely.

ICELAND AIRWAVES- OFF VENUE

I lead a concert at the Off venue-platform in 2017 at Iceland Airwaves in collaboration with fellow students. In both I was performing material composed by myself and arranged for a band of up to five musicians, depending on songs. I got a fine artist, Jósa, to design moving cartoons for my music which was projected on the wall whilst performing.

A CONVERSATION WITH SAFNAHÚSIÐ

At a performance in Safnahúsið at Hverfisgata, I worked around the event of when Landsnefndin came to Iceland and I speculated what say the women at the time had in that. I composed and arranged a choir piece for three female singers and wrote and performed a scene with an actress about the abuse of power. Next I sang a feminist blues standard, Wild women don´t get the blues and ended improving a comedy performance in a different room, leading guests between singing and playing.
